You have this moment

This is a song/prayer that we have on an old tape. I was listening to it the other day and  realized that often I don't take the time to prepare my heart for the hearing of God's Word like I should. How often do we get too busy to stop and ask the LORD to open our hearts and speak to us through the man He has chosen to preach His Word?

Do others see Christ in us? Or do they know you as just someone that acts religious, but it isn't really real?  I pray that others would not see me as a hypocrite, but that they would be able to see Christ living through me. Not only at church, but in every day life. We are not just Christians when we are at church for an hour and a half. If you are a true Believer then you're a Christian 24/7, and you take Christ with you wherever you go, and you make Him a part of Every single thing you do! Don't take your faith lightly... it changed your life, and it can change someone else's!

"You have this moment. I've come to worship You. It's not just habit, my heart is real. My thoughts are captive. For You alone deserve my highest praise. You have this moment. My heart is real.

Father, for a moment, we pause to consider this time your people call worship. When you see so many gather in your name each Sunday, do you call the angels together with great anticipation? Do you strain to hear grateful voices give honor to the name that has redeemed them? Do our congregations meet your expectations? Or do you sit back and sigh with sad disappointment at the close of each service? Having watched your people performed the ritual they've become so accustomed to, singing those great hymns while thoughts drift to matters of such lesser importance. When those in the pew lose sight of the fact that this time of worship is not for our pleasure, but for yours!

Have the singers and musicians given in to the latest styles in order to entertain a drifting audience, forgetting that the audience is actually a Holy and unchanging God with no need to be entertained, only honored and loved? Father, please show long-suffering to your people while we revive this time we call worship. Might our auditoriums be transformed into sanctuaries of praise~ pure expressions of honor that will draw you into our midst, out of your desire and not out of your obligation. Help us to grow past simply attending church that we would instead attend to worship.
As we gather each Sunday to gain entrance into the courts of an awesome and Holy God, may we bathe ourselves with humility, not only in our hearts, but a visible humbling that results from proper thoughts of Thee. Then the seeking sinner can leave our presence convinced that there is a God because His people have willingly humbled themselves before Him in true worship.

You have this moment. I've come to worship You. It's not just habit, my heart is real. My thoughts are captive. For You alone deserve my highest praise. You have this moment. My heart is real."
