~Our Soldier, Our Hero~

My Grandpa fought in WW2, so this poem, and blog post are in memory and tribute to him.
"Whistling bullets, marching feet, rumbling canons,
Cries of pain, drops of blood, suffocating heat,
Hearts beat a hammering rhythm as guns smoke and canons flare,
Soldiers stare death in the face with a fierce glare,
Remembering what they are fighting for-
Their life, their liberty, and their loves!

Bodies crumble in pain, offering their self-less sacrifice
Blood stains the ground as soldiers pay the price to defend their country
Risking their lives for us, feeling the sting of defeat
Determining to never give up, and fighting on to victory.
Wars are never over for the soldier,
Those moments are locked within the depths of their heart
Haunting their memories with horrific moments of battle;
While harboring the guilt of taking a life, the soldier struggles to bury the heartbreak of fallen comrades.
casings given to the family members
Lives were lost- but not forgotten
Lives risked- and thus changed.
Those will never be forgotten, and their sacrifice never lost.
Our veterans are more than soldiers,
They are our dearest dads, most precious grandpas, and our bravest heroes!

Those elite men have our love, respect, and honor.
They will always be a treasured part of our lives.
The ones loved and lost,
The memories of their deepest love and self-less sacrifice
Will forever be held dear in our hearts.
And we will yearn towards that day when we shall meet again,
To be together forever in the skies."
